Atlantis

Countdown to Double Occultation
On 23 April 1998 there was a simultaneous occultation of Jupiter and Venus by the moon. This is, apparently, a very rare astronomical event, having last happened on November 23 1791 and the next time, after this year will in 2200. The full event was only visible from a small part of the South Atlantic and part of Africa. Oliver Staiger's site documents his visit to see this rare event including many pictures of Ascension and if you would like maps and more detailed diagrams, information etc. follow the eclipse zone link you will find near the end of his page.
